ABOUT FIRST PEOPLES FUND:
First Peoples Fund is a national non-profit organization founded in 1995. First Peoples Fund honors, supports, and elevates the Collective Spirit of Native artists, culture bearers, and their communities. First Peoples Fund envisions a world of thriving, culturally-centered, and connected Indigenous communities.
PAY: This is a full-time, exempt/salary position. The salary range is $170,000 to $225,000 annually. Pay may vary depending on your location, skills, and experience.
LOCATION/TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Remote position or, if located in the Rapid City, SD area, work out of the FPF main office. Occasional travel is expected as needed. The position requires regular visits to headquarters, as well as regular traveling for off-site work.
PRE-SCREEN: Upon offer, employees will be required to complete and pass a background check.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
The President/CEO of First Peoples Fund provides visionary leadership to advance the organization’s strategic direction, impact, and national presence. As an Indigenous strategist and partner to the Board of Directors, the President/CEO oversees internal operations, financial management, and external partnerships while safeguarding the organization’s mission and values. This role ensures a strong organizational structure, risk management, and collaboration with leadership and the founder - Senior Fellow to ensure FPF’s Collective Spirit is centered and rooted within First Peoples Fund. The President reports to the Board of Directors and works closely with the Vice Presidents and the founder-Senior Fellow.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the organization’s vision, strategy, and overall direction in partnership with the Board and leadership team
Build and maintain meaningful relationships with funders, artists, staff, and community partners
Oversee financial strategy and organizational health
Represent FPF as a national leader and advocate in the field
Center First Peoples Funds values and foster a culture of belonging, respect, and collaboration
Who You Are:
An experienced leader with a track record in nonprofit, cultural, or Indigenous-led organizations
Deeply committed to Indigenous communities, values, and cultural practices
Strong in team leadership, public engagement, and organizational management
Skilled in fundraising, finance, and strategic planning
