SUMMARY:

The Associate Director, Individual & Tribal Giving, manages strategies to build relationships with and secure financial support from individual donors, Native American tribes, and related organizations. Core duties include: building relationships with and generating revenue from mid- and major-level individual donors for annual giving; overseeing donor communications and stewardship, analyzing campaign performance, and helping to meet the organization’s financial goals through consistent annual contributions. For Tribal Giving - building relationships with and managing strategies to secure financial partnerships with Native American Tribal Nations and related organizations. 

Pay: This is a full-time exempt/salary position. The salary range is $65000 to $80000 annually. Pay may vary depending on your location, skills, and experience.

Location/Travel Requirements:  This is a remote position and must be located in Central, Pacific, Mountain, or Eastern time zones.  Travel: Ability to travel frequently (up to 20-30% of the time) for donor meetings and events.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Fundraising Strategy & Execution: 
    • With Advancement staff, develop and implement annual and multi-year individual giving plans to increase revenue from mid-level to major gift donors (e.g., in the $5,000 to $100,000+ range). 
    • The creation and management of fundraising appeals, digital fundraising, and partnering with other Advancement and FPF staff on events.
  • Portfolio Management: 
    • Manage a personal portfolio of 75-100 current and prospective donors, building relationships and personally soliciting contributions through personalized engagement strategies.
  • Cultivation & Stewardship: 
    • Design and manage cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship processes to ensure mid-, major,- and annual giving donors are engaged and informed about the impact of their contributions.
  • Analysis and reporting: 
    • Track and analyze campaign performance to identify areas for improvement and report on progress toward goals.
    • Work with Advancement and Communications staff to create fundraising materials like letters, emails, newsletters, and presentations.
  • Tribal Giving Specifics: 
    • Developing relationships with tribal leaders, understanding tribal priorities, and aligning the organization's mission with the interests and values of Native American communities, Tribal Nations, and foundations. This may involve working with individual Tribal Nations, organizations, and networks.
  • Collaboration: 
    • Work with Advancement and Communications staff, senior leadership, and program staff to create compelling donor materials, align donor interests with organizational priorities, and ensure seamless communication.
  • Data & Administration: 
    • Ensure that gifts are recorded properly and ensure timely acknowledgements and receipts. Utilize CRM systems (Salesforce) to maintain accurate records, track results, and use data analytics to refine strategies and forecast revenue in collaboration with the Development Coordinator.
  • Events & Communication: 
    • With the Advancement and Communications staff, support the planning and execution of donor cultivation events and manage communications to a diverse set of stakeholders.
  • Supervision & Mentorship: 
    • Play a role in the supervision and mentoring of junior development staff, such as the Development Coordinator.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (fundraising, marketing, communications) or equivalent professional experience. 
  • Preferred: 3-7+ years of progressive fundraising and nonprofit management experience with a proven track record of securing 5-7 figure grants/gifts.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Skills: Strong communication (written and verbal), organizational and analytical skills are essential. Experience with fundraising software and databases is a must. Experience with digital marketing (for fundraising) and social media is a plus.
  • Beneficial: Proximity to Native Nations and/or tribal/communities.
  • Appreciated: Bringing one’s full self to the organization and accepting a collaborative approach to fundraising.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of working on a computer, including typing, viewing screens, and using a mouse or other input devices.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in person, over video calls, and via digital platforms.
  • Repetitive motions are involved in typing, using a mouse, and operating standard office equipment.
  • Adequate vision to read screens, documents, and digital content (with or without corrective lenses).
  • Clear verbal and written communication abilities for virtual meetings and digital collaboration.
  • The job involves normal physical requirements for an office position.
